Power Consumption

The DFI only has a four phase power regulation for the CPU and limited power components elsewhere, so there's less hardware conversion to lose energy as heat. However, without specific power saving hardware like everyone else uses these days, the DFI JR isn't exceptionally power efficient despite its small size, but it's still better than most of the pack by a margin of several to tens of watts.

Sitting neatly upper-mid table, but it uses 10W more power sitting idle than the Gigabyte EP45-UD3R with its power saving enabled, and it's 5W more still when it's disabled. Even then though, the DFI JR is still lower idle power than the MSI P45 with DrMOS and GreenPower enabled by just 2W, as well all but two of the other boards with energy efficiency disabled too.

When loaded, the DFI also sits around mid table, dropping slightly lower than other boards but only by a couple of watts at most, but most P45 boards around the same price with energy efficiency enabled use a bit less power.
